On May 9, Triangle Park received a fitting hometown spotlight in Dayton with a sold-out premiere screening at America’s Packard Museum as part of Ohio Goes to the Movies, the statewide film celebration honoring America’s 250th anniversary. The free ticketed event, presented by America’s Packard Museum, was listed as sold out, underscoring the excitement around a film rooted in one of Dayton’s proudest sports stories.

With Ohio Governor Mike DeWine in attendance, the evening brought together film lovers, football fans, history buffs, and proud Ohioans for a story that began more than a century ago on a field in Dayton.

Decades of moviemaking culminate in “Triangle Park,” a documentary about the historic 1920 game in Dayton that kicked off the NFL as we know it today.

The film, “Triangle Park,” is named for the location of that first game.

I asked if I could narrate the film, and he said, “Yes.”

"Triangle Park" is a documentary film based on the first-ever NFL Football game played in Dayton, Ohio.

The history lesson on film is written and directed by former Vandalia Butler High School quarterback Allen Farst, whose work is acclaimed in the documentary space.

For the first time, Farst will uncover the facts around this seminal game. One of 14 original professional teams, the Dayton Triangles played on Sunday, Oct. 3, 1920, against the Columbus Panhandles. Dayton, the more veteran and talented team, won 14-0.

AMC Theatres will premiere Triangle Park, directed by Allen Farst, in all 32 NFL cities the night before Thanksgiving on November 22 at 7pm. It’s a prime time slot for NFL fans and families to gather to watch the story of the First Ever NFL game.
